Biography


GIL COHEN-ALLORO was born in Jerusalem in 1967 and started his acting career in Peter Pan at the Habima Theatre in Tel Aviv. Moving to France in 1989 he trained on a full scholarship at the Rosella Hightower School in Cannes, later playing Gaston in Euro Disney's Beauty and the Beast in Paris.

In 1993 he won another full scholarship to the London Studio Centre where he won awards for 'Best Drama Piece' and 'Best Choreography', the latter appearing on Carlton TV's talent show Pot of Gold.

Gil made his West End debut playing the role of George Gershwin in Jolson at The Victoria Palace, where he also appeared in Sweet Charity. Other credits include The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and A Winter's Tale with the RSC, Rasputin with the Natural Theatre Company, Dying For It at the Almeida, a UK tour of Oklahoma! in which he was a principal dancer, and an adaptation of The Barber of Seville at the Bristol Old Vic. He played the part of Ernst Ludwig in Cabaret at the English Theatre Frankfurt returning there to play in The Last Virgin.

Gil has also appeared in a range of films and TV adverts worldwide. He has worked opposite Samuel L Jackson in the film 1408, was in Brad Pitt's World War Z, and in an advert for H&M with Madonna, who later directed him in W.E. He appeared in ABC's Galavant, feature film Kill Your Friends, Entebbe, and more recently in The Power due out on Amazon Prime in 2022.

Apart from acting Gil has directed and staged various shows including A Gala Performance at the Lyceum Theatre and has taught and choreographed at the renowned Millennium Performing Arts school. He is an experienced dancer, choreographer, mime artist and musician.
